Desription of the work:
My work is an evocation of a sense of place. Understanding and relating to environmental order creates a sense of security through orientation and identification. Philosopher Martin Heidegger refers to it as Dasein, an experience of being with all the senses, that provides authenticity to our lives. I directly draw patterns from my experience of landscape. I use printing methods to reproduce these patterns and layer them to create unique works. The reproductive nature of printmaking enables me to empower the reflective nature of my work. I prefer to print on a matte black grounding, which enhances the depth and tactility of each piece.
