Description

‘Zaaien en Oogsten’ is an ongoing series of installations by Antwerp based visual artist and designer Nel Maertens. Inspired by the flourishing nature of specific regions, each installment celebrates the vibrant beauty of spring.

The past edition, of which this drawing is part of, explored flora and fauna on the urban fringe, such as flowers growing along the edge of a busy road. The project reflects on the migration and vulnerability of floral species within a stressful patchwork of railway tracks, asphalt and vehicle emissions. By displaying this image in the streets of Antwerp, I call on people to cherish wild urban greenery.
