ONBOARDS BIENNALE 2025 — TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility

The Open Call is open to all living artists aged 18 years or older.

Submitted artworks must be the artist’s original creation, owned and copyrighted by the artist.

Submissions must not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

2. Submission Requirements

Each artist may submit only one recent artwork.

Submissions must include:

  • A small JPG image of the artwork via the provided upload link.
  • A biography of the artist.
  • A title and description of the artwork.

Submissions containing multiple works or missing required information will not be accepted.

3. Image Specifications (after the selection process)

Selected artists must provide the artwork in high-resolution format (300 DPI) PDF suitable for A0 vertical printing (841 × 1189 mm).

Failure to meet format requirements may result in disqualification.

4. Submission Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is May 20, 2025.

5. Selection Process

A Selection Committee will review all entries in early June 2025.

All decisions are final, and ONBOARDS vzw is not obligated to provide feedback.

Selected artists will be notified via email in June 2025.

6. Exhibition Details

The exhibition will run from July 14 to July 28, 2025.

Each selected work will be displayed on one side of a billboard throughout public spaces in Antwerp and its districts.

No location preferences can be submitted. Locations are assigned in collaboration with Agrafa.

The artist’s name and artwork title will appear beneath the printed billboard.

Artwork cannot be removed before the exhibition ends unless authorized by ONBOARDS vzw.

7. Website and Promotion

Each artist will receive a personal webpage on the ONBOARDS Biennale website.

The page includes the artist’s name, biography, artwork title and description, and links to the artist’s website or social media.

A QR code on the billboard will link viewers to the webpage.

The artwork will appear on the website after the exhibition ends.

An audio recording will feature the artist and their work.

8. Content Guidelines

Artworks must not contain explicit sexual, violent, offensive content or obvious nudity, as the artworks will be displayed in public spaces and are subject to the City of Antwerp’s Public Art display regulations. 

ONBOARDS vzw reserves the right to refuse submissions deemed unsuitable by the Selection Committee or Board of Advisors.

9. Copyright & Usage Rights

By submitting, artists grant ONBOARDS vzw permission to use submitted content (artwork, name, biography, description) on:

The ONBOARDS Biennale website, Social media platforms, Printed and digital publications, Partner and media channels

ONBOARDS vzw retains the right to print and keep one copy of each selected artwork.

While artists retain copyright, ONBOARDS vzw is not responsible for visitor photography or third-party misuse of displayed works.

10. Art Print Sales

Artists may opt to sell printed editions (limited or unlimited, signed or not signed) via the ONBOARDS Biennale website.

Artists will receive 50% of profits (excluding VAT) from these sales.

11. Awards

One Jury Award will be granted to participants in the Open Call and students.

Three Public Awards will be selected via public voting (accessible online and via QR code).

12. Communication

All communication with artists will be conducted via email only.

13. Agreement to Terms

By submitting an artwork, you confirm that you:
