ONBOARDS BIENNALE 2025 OPEN CALL

RELATIONSHIPS

The Onboards Biennale proposes the theme RELATIONSHIPS to artists, inviting them to explore social, environmental, cultural, and conceptual bonds, transforming public billboards into spaces of exchange between artists, audiences, and the urban environment.

Fifty (50) artists will be selected for the biennale

Please note:
  1. Content Guidelines: Explicitly sexual, violent, or offensive content will not be accepted, as the artworks will be displayed in public spaces and are subject to the City of Antwerp’s Public Art display regulations. The Onboards Biennale reserves the right to refuse submissions that are regarded unsuitable for the event by the Selection Committee or Board of Advisors.
  2. Submission Rights: By submitting images of your work, you grant Onboards VZW permission to use and publish the submitted images, your name and information to promote and communicate about your work and the Onboards Biennale, including on the official website, social media platforms, and in publications.
  3. Ownership of Prints: The printed posters displayed during the Biennale remain the property of the Onboards Biennale. Onboards VZW reserves the right to retain the printed poster used in the exhibition.
  4. Format and Submission Requirements: Each artist may submit only one recent work. Submissions that contain multiple works will not be considered by the Selection Committee. Submissions must include a small JPG file of an image that can be later submitted in high-resolution PDF file.
  5. Exhibition and Selection: Artists will be notified if their work is selected in June 2025. The exhibition will take place from July 14 to July 28, 2025.
  6. Copyright and Authorship: The artwork submitted must be your creation, owned and copyrighted by you. It must not infringe on copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights. By submitting, you affirm that the work is your original creation and you are holding full rights to display and sell it. The Open Call is excepting the works of living artists only.
  7. Art Print Sales: If they wish, participating artists can have the opportunity to have the print of their artwork sold (either in limited or unlimited editions) through the Onboards Biennale website. Artists will receive 60% of the profits from the sales (excluding VAT).
  8. Agreement to Terms: By submitting your work to the Onboards Biennale 25, you agree to the Terms and Conditions outlined above.
Specifications for Artwork Submission
TO UPLOAD NOW:
one JPG (1768 x 2500 px, max 5MB). 
The filename should be formatted as: FirstNameSurnameTitle.jpg 
(we will use this image for the selection process)

  • Document Size: 841 × 1189 mm (A0, vertical)
  • Resolution: 300 DPI
  • File Format: PDF
  • File Name Format: FirstNameSurnameTitle

Important Notes:

  • Selected artworks must be submitted later in June in A0 format High Resoluition PDF to ensure proper printing. Files not meeting these specifications will be deemed ineligible for the biennale.
  • Avoid using predominantly dark (black) images, as they produce strong reflections in daylight, making them difficult to view.
