I’m art-making Lotte, living in Antwerp! I started my studies in Illustration, but finished my bachelor’s in Painting and now I’m pursuing a master’s in the Autonomous Context. I work around portraits with ‘absent’ faces, faces that aren’t there, are unrecognizable, or are of secondary importance. Identity and self-expression are my main interests.

This work depicts a group portrait, more specifically a portrait of me and my friends. A table after dinner instead of before. The way a beautifully set table evolves into uncontrolled chaos says a lot about the people who sat around it – maybe even more than their faces would.

Also a fun fact about this piece is that it’s painted on a promotional poster, which makes it a nice full-circle moment.
