My name is Sean Peleman (24,M), Master graduate in printmaking at the royal academy of fine arts in Antwerp, where i am mostly active as well. Within my practice i flirt with media from various time-periods to seek a universal language in both image and silhouette. I take references from pop culture, bad movies, underground music and folk art. I tend to explore my practice through installation, print, sounds and performance, both through collaborative works in my creative space ‘ALAS!’ and by my self. Through printmaking i felt the need to leave an imprint on my surroundings which i prefer to do with publications and immersive installational pieces. Within most of my work i try to capture a remnant of play, something unmistakeably intuitional yet targeted. Often through rudimentary questioning or by mirroring the matter. This work can be seen as an example of my practice.

Description

The work fills in an enscenated application with a surreal outcome to the matter. I took reference from shared experiences between myself as an artist, other creators, and my further surroundings. This piece embodies the possible relations people have with the applicational system, together with the expectations and outcomes of this process. Artists tend to spend big amounts of time in applying, enrollment, waiting, etc… One of the many things we tend to forget but have in common with a broader public. By hanging this work in a public space i seek to open a dialogue between artists and non-artists about our shared questioning in these bureaucratical matters, seen from every angle and with a playful yet critical nod.
