Masha Luch is a contemporary multimedia artist.

She holds a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from a university in St. Petersburg (2011), which marked the beginning of her professional career in the fashion industry. Over more than five years in the field, she began to develop her artistic voice, integrating design principles with conceptual approaches to visual expression.

In 2012, she completed a design course at Central Saint Martins, London, which expanded her creative methodology and introduced new directions in visual and motion design. In the following years, she worked as a designer and art director on projects for international brands, while continuing to explore personal artistic research.

Her current practice spans sculpture, textile-based art projects — drawing on her fashion background — and multimedia installations. In 2022, she deepened her approach to contemporary art by participating in a research-focused program in artistic methodologies, led by curator Hanna Zubkova, Paris. That same year, she published an independent research-based artist book, further expanding her interdisciplinary practice.

Masha currently lives and works in Podgorica, Montenegro. Her works are included in private collections internationally, reflecting a growing interest in her evolving artistic vision.

Beschrijving

In this work, I explore the theme of relationships — personal, social, and ecological—through an image that brings together inherently incompatible elements: water and air, flight and confinement, the natural and the artificial.

The minimalist form conceals a layered metaphor of fragility and interdependence. A balloon filled with water and containing a fish becomes a paradoxical space — closed, vulnerable, yet capable of movement.

This visual statement reflects on how even the most contradictory relationships can serve as points of contact, generating space for connection and understanding. The work invites viewers to consider the nature of bonds: delicate, temporary, yet foundational to our shared reality.
