Beschrijving
In this print The Chains that Bind, I continue my investigation into the language of still life and the objects with which we engage with in our daily lives. In The chains that bound, I have taken my domestic private world into the public realm, onto the street for public scrutiny as a contribution to the Onboard Bienniale. The print brings together a photographic image of small picture frames made in my studio onto which I have placed a scanned image of a glass linked chain. Through this I want to suggest the nature of personal relationships as being both concrete and frail. My intention in using the blank cast picture frames is to invite the audience or the passer by, to project their own images of their own friends or relatives onto them. They might even glimpse their own reflection while looking at the print, adding a further dimension. Either way, the print is awaiting the audience to complete the image and reflect on the relationships that bind them.
